A demo has been recorded of the third and final track for the Azanah project, "Follow the Leader". Now that the three demos are complete, I can start working on the record in earnest. Projected release - December 2025. I want to take my time with the vocals, mixing, and all the other fun stuff involved with recording. I plan on doing some open mics in the local area when the project is near-complete, just me, my guitar, and my laptop hooked up to a PA to play the backing tracks. Then we'll see where it all goes from there.
Yesterday me and Sebastian finalized the two songs for the upcoming Wesley Project single. We've gotten in touch with our drummer Alex, who agreed to play drums and produce the project. We're aiming for mid-August to do the recording sessions.
A new Petrarca song was released the other day, it is titled "Roads to Kyo" and features guest vocals by a good friend of the band, Stephen Thomas Abott. Listen to it on Bandcamp below, or check your favorite streaming service. It is the lead single for the upcoming Petrarca EP Slow Unnurtured Brain.
In other news, here's a logo I've made for Azanah:
I uploaded an old Petrarca recording I helped write to the media page, it is a segue track titled "Cardiovascular Disease". It was released on the Priming the Wook EP back on New Year's eve of 2024, which stayed on streaming platforms and Bandcamp for a few months before being taken down due to Sebastian's growing distate of the final result of the project. We made CDs of that release (or rather I forced Sebastian to let me make a couple), and I still have a couple of copies. If you're interested in one, I can ship one out to you for free, just to get rid of them.
Currently working on the third and final song for the yet-to-be-titled Azanah EP, titled "Follow the Leader". This is going to take a while as I'm mostly trying to figure out drum patterns for it. Once this third demo is completed I will begin work on the final tracks, re-recording them all for proper release. The demos I've uploaded to the media page are basically placeholders. Proof-of-concepts, if anything.
I'm toying with the idea of pressing the EP as a 7" lathe cut record, maybe producing 10-20 copies. Since lathecuts are handmade, they'll probably cost around $10-15 in order for me to break even with the costs of pressing them. I'm looking at Audio Geography for manufacturing. Mostly I only want to do that to fulfill the fantasy of pressing the record, and to have a copy for myself. To try and make up for the price, the record will be released in special homemade packaging and might included bonus items like patches. The release will certainly see a much cheaper, homemade CD release that I plan on giving away at shows.
